Chicken Coop

Yes...we got some chicks! What I didn't know: they go from fluffy and cute to fat and scruffy in just a week!!

Kevin spent the weekend with us and helped Jesse make a coop and chicken run. The children are so excited- apparently seeing them in a box just isn't that interesting!

The Run...the men tried to create a "habitat" with places to climb, scratch, and flutter.

The Coop...needs a nice coat of paint- Ashley has chosen a turquoise that will really make a statement!

The Flock...yes, at almost three weeks they are nearing adolescence and thus looking pretty scruffy.

All in all a great Easter! The egg hunt was at the fair grounds, so the children each had to be in a different area for the hunt. I felt quite torn but had to stay with the youngest...and thus, I only got pictures of Dallin. The children came home with balls and whistles and stuffed animals- making the Easter Bunny's job quite easy!!

Migrant Mother Nursing

I came across this picture again yesterday and had to post it. The Migrant Mother series was done by Dorothea Lange, and they are all beautiful. I couldn't pass this one up because she is nursing her sweet baby. I have been torn between guilt and desire with Dallin, because every time I try to ween him he freaks out. Then I see something like this and I realize it is okay to take the more natural path. Now, that is the way I want it! (Of course not without toilets and running water...and probably a lot of other stuff!)

Dad's Book

Dad decided to publish a book about a family in Guatemala. Yes, our family! But with an adventurous twist- not that life down there wasn't often adventurous. It was fun to read a spy version of life in Latin America and brought back many memories of the sights and smells that I still call home. As I sit in a home surrounded by several feet of snow I am longing for Guatemala.....
